Overview

The Communications Group Country Lead, India, is a critical member of the global Syneos Health medical communications capability who additionally represents and supports the India Communications group holistically. As such, this leader will partner with local functional leads and other Syneos enterprise business leaders to promote operational excellence, employee engagement and culture in a connected and locally relevant way.

For the group's medical communication agencies, Litmus and Cadent, the Country Lead is a discipline subject-matter expert, who will build upon the existing medical writing footprint in India to scale, train, and directly lead a highly effective medical writing team. This role will also develop, implement and manage organizational change in line with business strategy, supporting the development of the team and transition to future structures and operating models As such, this role is directly accountable to the EU Director, Scientific Services (Litmus) and the SVP, Medical Director, Publications (Cadent) to ensure flawless and strategic execution in support of our global medical communications agencies, and to the satisfaction of our clients.

Please note that teams are based in Bengaluru and Gurugram. If neither location is convenient then role can be remote with some travel required.

Responsibilities

Medical Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME): Serve as subject matter expert in multiple disease states Proven strategic and scientific thinking and the ability to read and distill data Ability to multi-task and collaborate internally and externally Proven leadership across and management of multiple accounts Able to effectively manage, mentor, and grow a large and highly effective medical writing teams (up to 50+ individuals) Ability to grow and develop client relationships Experience across both non-promotional and promotional medical communication activities, including peer-to-peer programs, advisory boards, scientific platforms, MSL materials (proactive and reactive), digital medical communications and publications Knowledge of, and experience with digital medical communications Workshop development and facilitation experience Assist in development and maintenance of the new business pipeline

Talent Management: For the India medical writing team, ensures best-in-class training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to support high-quality medical writing and medical strategy execution according to relevant professional standards Identify, foster, and monitor necessary skills development for direct reports Establishes and maintains a healthy local Communications employee culture that drives engagement, and retention and drives connectivity between the India-based Communications teams and the broader global Communications organization Partners as needed with other Comms hiring managers and leaders in support of efficient recruitment and onboarding, working proactively to optimize and streamline processes and procedures

Country SME/Ambassador: Becomes the Syneos India SME to help Communications leaders abroad navigate local customs, policies, and procedures Provides local market insights on talent trends, current events, etc. to support the success of the Communications India operation Supports local and cross geographical functional level team-building initiatives Becomes the local Communications ambassador and champion – representing the Communications team in local office initiatives such as social events, facilities updates, etc., as well as trouble-shoot holistically on local administrative logistics as needed

Communications Representative/Single-Point-of-Contact: Represents the Communications Group as part of a local Commercial leadership team that champions the Commercial organization locally Manage key stakeholder relationships with local functional leads, as well as internal departments Proactively partner with local Syneos as well as global Comms to deliver relevant information to local team as appropriate

Advanced degree in biomedical field, PhD preferred Able to communicate fluently in the English language (written and verbal) Able to travel locally and internationally for internal and external meetings as needed (likely in the US, UK, or Europe) Comfortable leading within a highly-matrixed organization Minimum of 10 years professional medical writing and strategy experience in publication planning, publications, medical affairs; promotional, high-science communication experience is a plus Broad therapeutic category experience; experience in oncology, gastroenterology, nephrology, rare disease, immunology, and neuroscience preferred 7+ years of professional experience in business management/operations functions including with direct line management responsibilities, with a minimum of 2 years working as part of an extended team that is spread across multiple geographic locations globally Strong client and industry relationships Excellent computer skills, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel
