PurposeLead the Dell Medical School Office of Research Sponsored Projects Administration team, in collaboration with the Vice Dean of Research, Assistant Dean of Research, Department Chairs, Department Associate Chairs for Research, & Department Directors, other Dell Med Research Directors, and main campus partners in the Vice President for Research's office, to ensure successful implementation of strategic plans and provision of sponsored projects administration support and services to the Dell Med research community.ResponsibilitiesWork with the Vice and Assistant Deans of Research, other leaders in Dell Med's Office of Research, as well as leaders in the UT Austin Office of Sponsored Projects, to ensure operational decisions, actions, and resource allocations are supportive of Dell Med's research goals and objectives. Collaborate to identify, develop, implement, and operationalize long- and short-term strategic plans for how to best support, manage, and execute sponsored projects administration.Coordinate with faculty and staff at Dell Medical School, other UT Austin organizations, clinical partner organizations, and other constituents to ensure successful collaboration, execution, and oversight of sponsored projects and clinical trial financial and administrative activities within Dell Medical School. Work to develop mechanisms and processes for collecting and managing metrics for internal management and external reporting for sponsored projects and clinical trial activities.Oversee policy and procedure development and implementation to ensure compliance with and adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations across all projects while also working with leadership to reduce administrative burden while mitigating risk as possible. Serve as point of contact (POC) for internal and external auditors in coordination with UT Austin Sponsored Projects Award Administration (SPAA) and Dell Med Finance teams.With specific autonomy, responsible to approve for submission, and accept associated risks for, all sponsored projects proposals on behalf of Dell Medical School and UT Austin. Within this is also procedural autonomy to approve and accept risk for specific actions within the oversight and management of the award, including items such as JIT, RPPR, prior approval actions, etc.Manage a team of sponsored projects professionals supporting the Dell Medical school research community (internal and external constituents), including the financial and administrative management of all sponsored projects, including clinical trials. Provide support and professional guidance to Dell Medical School leadership and other stakeholders (internal and external) regarding Dell Medical School Sponsored Projects Administration. Develop and maintain organization infrastructure and partnerships.Other related functions as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years' leadership/management experience within sponsored projects/research administration. Previous experience managing a dynamic sponsored projects portfolio.
