Microbiologist-QC Full-time Job

Microbiology Quality Control Technicians are responsible for assuring quality of the product through all day-to-day operations. They assist the biomanufacturing plant by evaluating raw materials, other supplies and the finished, packaged product. They ensure compliance to common Good Manufacturing Practices. They calibrate and maintain microbiology laboratory equipment; compile and analyze data for documentation; and prepare related reports. They revise and update SOPs as necessary.

Methods for achieving microbiological control differ during different biomanufacturing phases. Since QC is involved at every stage, in a large company Microbiology Quality Control Technicians work in numerous locations. Or, at a small company, they can be versatile. People in these positions need to be detail oriented, willing to keep excellent records, and have good communication skills. Those with good laboratory skills and manufacturing or laboratory experience are more likely to get the best jobs and the best salaries.
