The Mental Health Therapist/Licensed Clinical Social Worker will join our growing multi-disciplinary team to conduct behavioral and mental health assessments, treatment planning, brief interventions, and interdisciplinary team consultation as needed. This position is a collaborative hire between the Department of Health Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The first of its kind in the nation, the Department of Health Social Work is a collaboration of Dell Medical School and the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Jointly operated by both schools, the department creates an academic home for social workers and other integrated behavioral health providers to improve the health of individuals, families and communities, create value in health care, innovate new models of health social work and integrated behavioral health practice, and build civic and community engagement and connections. The department creates a formalized structure of collaboration to support their shared interprofessional missions.This position has an end date of 11/30/23, and may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.This position will be assigned on-campus with an expectation to work on-site for some of the scheduled work week.Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable workspace free from distractions. A flexible workingarrangementagreement will be required upon offer.The University of Texas, Dell Medical School (DMS), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the Texas Children's Mental Health Care Consortium. The program and projects of the Dell Medical School, HRI work to address the clinical needs of the programs which address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children and adolescents. This is a federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents.PurposeThis position will provide mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and family members American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funded projects through the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine(TCHATT)program at Dell Medical School. TCHATT provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts to help identify and assess the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents and provide access to mental health services. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing evidence-based mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and family members in need of rapid access to care. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats, mental health disorders. Creates individualized treatment plans according to each patient's unique needs and circumstances. Meets with patients regularly to provide counseling and treatment. Will conduct ongoing assessments of patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.Educates family members on interventions they can utilize with their child and how to respond to their child's behaviors. Completes documentation and safety plans according to program policies. Has excellent communication and rapport building skills. Works with a team of Clinicians including Psychiatrists, Advanced Practitioners, Therapists, Pediatricians, Social Workers and School Counselors to provide outstanding patient care.ResponsibilitiesEvaluates and provides diagnostic impressions. Formulates treatment plan according to evidence based practices and protocol. Conduct individual, family and group therapy sessions as needed. Monitors patients for suicidal/homicidal intent and ensures patient safety if necessary. Undertake crisis intervention, as needed.Participates in any supervision, feedback, and quality assurance checks. Maintains client records and performs data entry as required by protocol.Coordinates with referring practitioners, individuals, and family members throughout the treatment. Collaborates with project coordinators and administrative assistants to coordinate patient visits.Attends appropriate training workshops, interdisciplinary meetings and client staffing as required. Participate in clinical supervision and oversight of clinical activities for pre-licensure team members, consistent with applicant's own licensure and experience.Other related functions as assigned.Required QualificationsHold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an institutional program certified by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. Have a minimum of three (3) years of post-degree clinical experience. Experience working with children, adolescents, and family systems. Strong technological skills and ability to perform computer task and utilize electronic health record independently.Ability to work remotely as needed. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of other health care professionals (i.e., physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, medical assistants). Maintain a positive, compassionate, and professional attitude when engaging with patients and their family members. Possess excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills; organizational, planning, follow-up/follow-through, and time management skills. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-provider practice environment. Demonstrated commitment to professional ethical and practice standards. Readiness to adopt new techniques and practices as determined by clinical leadership. At least 3 years of experience providing crisis intervention, care coordination, and case management to children and families. At least 3 years of experience providing short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention services to a culturally diverse population. At least 3 years of experience in high demand outpatient or inpatient mental health settings. Experience providing school-based mental health services. Proficiency in at least one electronic medical records system, e.g., Athena. Have experience delivering care as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
