Closely affiliated with the Livestrong Cancer Institutes is the Department of Oncology, which aims to advance care - and improve health outcomes - through a patient-centered enterprise strategy developed in partnership with the Central Texas cancer care community.PurposeThis position will manage the daily operations of a clinical research department including clinical trials. Our clinical trial portfolio primarily comprises of various oncologic solid tumor early phase clinical trials, NRG cooperative group trials and National Cancer Institute funded early phase trials and grants.ResponsibilitiesAssists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, good clinical practice standards in accordance to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. Oversees and stream lines clinical trials through all stages. Monitors the departmental budgets to ensure availability and allocation of resources for clinical trials. Conducts hiring, training, directing, developing, and evaluating of staff. Other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field and three years of related experience, or combination of High School degree and related experience required. One year minimum experience in a leadership or management role. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, work collaboratively with others and in a team, work well in potentially stressful situations and be adaptable to change. Should have knowledge of good clinical research practice. Certification specializing in Research Professional credentialed form the Certified Institutional Review Board Professional (CIP). Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas of Board of Nursing. Five years of related experience. 2 or more years experience in a leadership or management role. Detail-oriented with high emphasis on quality implementation and conduct of trials. Prior research experience with cancer patients and/or in Oncology/Hematology preferred.
