Designs, builds and maintains the databases. Establishes the maintenance of appropriate data backups and the ability to recover to any point within that backup. Provides database technical services and support to both internal and external customers.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS Assists in managing the life cycle of multiple database tools by enabling smooth upgrades andor installation and support of new capabilities Assists in the establishment and maintenance of the data architecture Contribute to the development of the capacity planning function to properly identify needed hardware, software, database configuration architecture to support application business needs Designs, builds, verifies, implements and maintains the structure of databases to support business needs including integration of vendor database solutions into data environment Prepares reusable project and system related documentation consistent with standards and procedures outlined in the data architecture approach to ensure data quality, availability and reliability. Creates processes to ensure reuse, recovery and maintenance. Provides project teams with performance tuning, query optimization, tables and view advice, and use of DBMS tools and hardware capabilities e.g. index tuning, caching, buffer management. Reviews new applications for their ability to be integrated into the environment specifically around data, including design around security, maintainability, reliability, performance and metrics Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Broad knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices Maintains knowledge of, and compliance with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction andor efficiency outcomes Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure effective management of data architecture
