Job Description Who you'll work with You are joining the Developer Experience team within the Developer Relations organization which is leading the Developer Strategy across Cisco. We are a group of passionate individuals looking to improve the developer experience as Cisco transforms and expands SaaS offerings. As part of a centralized group within engineering, the Developer Relations team also advocates for excellence in Developer Experience and API design across Cisco. We drive the quality of the developer experience for the multiple programmable platforms at Cisco from cloud, security, networking, infrastructure, collaboration, and Cisco data itself. Who you are We are looking for an energetic, top-tier, and collaborative technical leader who can work closely with software engineers and other product managers. You have deep empathy for the developer experience and care for the design, security, consistency, and quality of our API experiences, and can partner with various teams across the company while solving challenging problems. When you see room for improvement, you see the opportunity to advise, mentor, and coach - working with others to produce development plans. This role is a great opportunity to motivate change and have a direct impact on Cisco APIs. Within the role, you help evaluate the quality of Cisco product APIs and strive to teach others to self-evaluate to scale up the overall mission to a world-class developer experience across our product portfolio. You provide consistent communication at all levels from engineering conversations to executives, advocating for best-in-class developer experiences. You enjoy identifying gaps, investigating how to fix them, and crafting mitigation plans. You are empathetic to engineering teams within Cisco while they work on continually improving their platforms, APIs, and developer resources. You can create long-term partnerships with leadership. Requirements Passionate for and appreciative of great Developer Experience. Balances being a leader and having strong opinions with humility and data as proof points, leading by example. Can lead across teams to drive high-quality API products with rigor and consistency. Experience developing against REST APIs. Experience regularly presenting to engineering leadership and executives. Experience with programming. Nice to have Proficiency in cross-group collaborations as the role will be in contact with many Cisco engineering groups, at different levels of seniority and with different viewpoints: product managers, engineers, technical writers, directors, and VPs. Experience with Git and Git-based source control platforms such as GitHub. Experience in Q&A and contributing to quality standards. Experience with product management. Some project management experience. Experience in API design, implementation, and/or operations. Computer science, technical writing, or engineering degree. Note that the "Nice to have" section really means "nice to have." You can have none of the items on the list and still be a great fit for our team and for the role. What you'll do You will be responsible to 'Drive up the Developer Experience' for selected Cisco platforms, in collaboration with the DevRel team and engineering groups. In this position, you will: Lead API Reviews of prioritized platforms using Cisco API Guidelines. Present regularly on overall Developer Experience Health scores. Share scores and work with API Product Managers to agree on a baseline for the current and future versions of their APIs. Capture feedback and create development plans with engineering groups and in collaboration with the Developer Experience team (Developer Advocacy, Documentation, and Developer Support teams). Assemble reports and dashboards to describe status and progress in the developer experience across Cisco platforms, Establish plans to improve the developer experience for prioritized platforms (identify stakeholders, define critical metrics, identify blockers, define mitigation/resolution plans, create reports). Contribute to the Cisco guidelines for Developer Experience and API Design, and methodology used to evaluate. Identify gaps in existing toolsets to publish API documentation at developer.cisco.com and influence changes for the platform with Engineering. #WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all. We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we're "old" (37 years strong) and only about hardware, but we're also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns, and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can't put us in a box! But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.) Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward. So, you have colorful hair? Don't care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That's cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us! #hiring #li_recruiter   Read More
